Raising awareness of HPV gender neutral vaccination
The BAHNO Public Engagement Committee, under the Directorship of Professor Anastasios Kanatas, will be visiting schools this Autumn to explain about the Government’s commitment to extend HPV vaccination to boys.
The incidence of potentially HPV-related head and neck squamous cell carcinomas has been rising, especially in males. Until now, boys couldn’t be vaccinated by the NHS - unlike girls, who were covered by a national vaccination programme.
BAHNO views this as an important public health measure.
BAHNO members will be visiting schools to deliver a short (30 minute) presentation to pupils of year 8 and above.
