Remembering Professor Abhishek Mahajan
BAHNO was deeply saddened by the untimely passing of Professor Abhishek Mahajan in September this year. As we reflect on his life and contribution, we extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and colleagues.
Abhishek joined BAHNO in 2022 and became our first radiology representative on Council in 2023. His appointment marked an important step in the Association’s multidisciplinary representation, bringing the perspective and expertise of radiology to our work in head and neck oncology. His loss is felt deeply within Council and across the wider BAHNO community.
A consultant radiologist at Clatterbridge Cancer Centre and a valued member of the Liverpool Head & Neck Centre, Abhishek combined outstanding clinical expertise with remarkable academic energy. His work encompassed cancer imaging, particularly head and neck and neuro-oncological imaging, alongside a strong interest in artificial intelligence. There will be a huge sense of loss at both a personal and academic level across the wide range of academic and clinical collaborations that he either led or contributed to.
Those who worked with him remember his enthusiasm, dedication to patient care and generosity as a colleague. Above all, he will be remembered for his kindness and compassion. Our thoughts remain with his family and friends during this difficult time.
